My story –

Every stage of my life has ultimately led me to who I am as an esthetician. In my 15 years of experience working with skin, it has brought me here –

  • I build trust with my clients by being honest and educating them throughout the process.

  • I prioritize establishing a clear treatment plan after making an assessment during their consultation.

  • I’m here as long as they need me, and I’m not happy until they are.

  • Seeing my clients happy and confident in their skin and helping them find hope when they had given up on their skin is the best reward.

  • As a skincare professional, having someone trust you with their skin and being given permission to guide them on this journey is what I take the most pride in.

Growing up, I struggled with acne at a young age. My parents took me to the doctor, and by the 8th grade, I had tried every topical and oral prescription on the market. My skin was left damaged and still unmanaged. When I was in high school, I learned not too far from where I lived, the first esthetician school in Pismo Beach was opening up –– I enrolled a week after graduation. At the time, all I wanted to do was find out why my skin was so bad and how to treat it, and then hopefully, I could help others who were struggling like me.

Learning about facials and skincare made me interested in full-body treatments, which led to enrolling in a massage therapy program in San Diego. I quickly realized massage therapy was not for me, but I loved how I could add different massage techniques to my facials. Over the next few years, I became obsessed with skin, the latest technologies, skincare products, and how to treat the skin from within.

From there, I was offered the lead esthetician at one of my first jobs, and this is where I fell in love with educating and helping new estheticians grow too. I was eager to continue learning, so I looked into advanced skincare treatments and discovered how pursuing a nursing degree might help me reach the next level. Having never been to college, this terrified me. A friend of mine who was a nurse encouraged me to start with my CNA and gain experience to see if this was something I wanted to pursue.

My family encouraged me to start taking my prerequisite classes at the community college, and I found a job working as a CNA in the PCU (and I continued as an esthetician as well). I learned so much from my experience at the hospital and applied it to what I did in the treatment room. On several occasions, I was even able to bring the spa to the hospital and help patients at the lowest times in their life.

Working in the hospital during Covid-19 changed us all. Our roles as healthcare professionals changed. Patients weren’t allowed to have any family or visitors. Because of this, bringing the spa experience to the hospital and providing patients with a different kind of care was special and rewarding. This experience gave me a different perspective on life. I have learned how to care for others through skincare, and working in healthcare strengthened my abilities as an esthetician.

Thanks for reading my story, I can’t wait to meet you and help you achieve your skincare goals.

xoxo,

Kristen
